Crafting with my friends

Last night some friends of mine came round for a crafting session. Sometimes when we get together we do free crafting, sometimes we ask an SU demo who is also now a friend to do a class, and now we have started doing it so one of us in turn organises it as a project. Last night was the start of this and I was in charge!

I organised two cards and also had a bit of free craft in the middle whilst I put my daughter to bed.

This is the first of the cards we made...

I used my favourite stamp set Forever Young and decided on the clock. I decided to do some heat embossing and then picked out some gorgeous patterned card from a selection in the stash that has embossing on it which the flash has just about picked up in the photo. I used very vanilla card and a cream card blank to keep the card quite classy. The clock was stamped and embossed three times with the black detail powder and then the clock part and the clock face cut out and raised. Finally some pearls for the embellishment. I've never done the clock with embossing before but I love the effect of glossy finish for it so may have to dig out the other embossing powders to try other colours... I can imagine it in a lovely bronze colour... Maybe when I have a little more time!

After we had made this I put the princess to bed and left the lovely ladies with some sketches and a box of christmas stuff to play with .... When I came down they had chosen some different bits and pieces ... And all made something slightly different. Not all were finished but good progress made towards finishing. I made a quick card too which I will post shortly for the America Monday challenge.

Then we moved to the messy card!

Here is my example card! I used my beautiful Dylusions inks and mixed the turquoise and blue colours and swiped the watercolour card through so it made a lovely mottled effect on the card. Once it was dry I then used my snowflake stamp to stamp into some water and then stamp on the card and then blot with the kitchen roll to remove some ink and leave the lighter snowflake impression. Once dry I stamped my favourite Dasher stamp and the sentiment in Island indigo and then simple mount on the dark blue mirri card. Finally on the example I used some glossy enamel and some stickles to finish off Dasher. Unfortunately my glossy enamels has air in it and is bubbling loads so not working so well. So the ones I did last night I omitted the glossy enamel and stuck to the platinum stickles.

I was happy with how both cards went ... Especially the inky messy ones ... I, as usual, got far muckier than the others, but the wonderful craft scrubbie soon sorted me out!

I did also ink up a little more card whilst there was still some on the mat so experimented a little more ... But will post about that later.

So that's it from me today. Princess and I off to the dentist for her teeth check so we have to go and get ready for that. May well be back later with some more!

Entering the Holly jolly christmas challenge with the second set of cards ... Reindeer!

Another scrap page ... Smiler

Oooh... I'm on a roll! Not scrapped in ages, then two pages in one day!

This time I chose an image that needed a little cropping into a square and mat it with the pearlescent white. I mounted it onto the red Coredinations that I had partially embossed. I then wrapped some red satin ribbon from the stash and found some buttons. I added the bow on top to keep the ribbon flat.

I then decided on the blue background and found the gorgeous stripes on another piece of 12x12. I punched out the banners from the remaining cardstock and created the bottom strip of banners and those to the right of the photo. The photo is raised slightly with pinflair too. I also decided the bottom looked a little neglected and out of balance so three more pennants added. I added journaling on the blue under the patterned paper. Then chose a title, adding the furry chipboard letters and done!

Woyww ... And a scrap page!

Well this is my first scrap page in an age but decided it was the next thing to be done today. And of course I also remembered it was Wednesday and therefore time to share the workspace for this weeks WOYWW. For those who don't know it's where Julia at The Stamping Ground coordinates all those crafty arty peeps to share their workspace ... It's a great chance to have a nosey around the blogs!

So here is my space at the moment...

I have to say its not looking too bad at the moment. I imagine if I take a pic later it will look a lot worse. I am also being forced to watch cBeebies as the princess has had a really slobby morning on the sofa watching tv but at least it's kept her quiet I suppose!
And here is the page I created...

I kept it fairly simple as the picture had so many colours and patterns and kept to a neutral cream base and a dark red coredinations cardstock for the stripes and the mat. Then I added different textures with the stickers and linen tabs and rub ons and then some journalling around the edge. The picture is one of maya at about eighteen months old trundling round the decking at her grandparents caravan on her little push car. Love the rosy cheeks!

One sheet wonder

Today the weather has started off pretty miserable although perfect for a crafty chilling day at home with the princess. I decided to ease myself in by doing a 6x6 one sheet wonder. A nice easy way to start thinking about composition and playing. Three of these will become a raffle or tombola prize for the next school fayre and one for my stash... Guess it will be easy to work out which is the odd one out!

I used the sketch I found via google and pinterest which is here

Although I did slightly amend the sketch to fit the square cards I was using rather than the rectangular ones the sketch was designed for.

Entering these as the single entry into the anything Goes challenge at Perfect Sentiments challenge blog.

Now I wonder what else I will create today... Might have to drag the princess away from the tv to get out of pjs first though!

Prepping for a craft project night at mine tomorrow

Oh the joy of finding a product that really really works! I bring you Craft Scrubbie by Inkessentials. I adore it! It really does do the job! And I have proof!

Tonight I was prepping some projects which I am sharing with some of my lovely crafty friends tomorrow, one of which left me a little inky to say the least!

But after a few minutes with some hand soap, warm water and the craft Scrubbie ... Look at the results!

There is the tiniest amount of green left on my thumb on my right hand which I missed but otherwise not smurf like at all. I am also hoping that should the lovely ladies coming tomorrow won't get quite so messy ... It's just that I did about three other inky projects before I settled on the one for the class so they shouldn't ... And I stress ... shouldn't get as messy as I was!

And here is the prep box finished and ready for their arrival!

Five kits ready and samples elsewhere ready for me to share tomorrow!

I'm quite excited to see what they make of the projects and hope that they like what they are making. One is a more standard stamping affair and the other a bit more creative ... Hence messy! Lol!

Tomorrow the princess and I are also hoping to do some crafting during the day too... Not sure whether to do some canvases or cards yet ... Will have to see how she feels tomorrow. Also go some sewing to do ... A challenge for both of us and maybe some wet felting later in the week. I love girly time with maya when we get creative so fingers crossed tomorrow she's in the mood for some fun!

Pretty dress for anything goes

Another of the baby cards created using the topper set I bought a few weeks ago ... This time a pink one!

I layered the patterned floral paper onto some pink paper and then added the adhesive die cut trim which had come from a magazine freebie. Then I added the label punch out and then added the dress chipboard topper. Finally a little pink button finished it off nicely.

Entering this into the Anything goes challenge over at party time Tuesday!

Playtime on a Tuesday

A cute card to share with you this time from a gorgeous decoupage set a friend gave me from her throwaway pile! Such cute images and soft colours.

Although its not easy to see from the photograph the main image is decoupaged using pin flair to keep it subtle and then mounted onto the pale green rectangular panel. I then wrapped four lengths of the gorgeous calypso coral organza ribbon round it. I then affixed the pale green rhinestones along the ribbon at an angle. I then layered it up onto the pretty striped paper. Then I stamped the cute sentiment from a freebie set from a magazine and punched it out using my SU curly label punch. I added this using foam pads to give it a raised feel to match the decoupage.
Really pleased with this ... I love the effect I created with the ribbons and the rhinestones.... And obviously so cute!
I am entering this into the challenge at Tuesday alchemy where it matches one of the random words ... Bee ... Small bees in the main image and crafty sentiments ... Added sparkle with the rhinestones!

Baby boy embossed!

A little while ago I shared some baby cards I was making from some toppers I bought ... This is another one I made.

I kept it clean and simple by embossing the blue paper with the dots, adding a little postage stamp in the centre and adding the little chipboard embellishment topper on top!

Cute!

Entering this for the challenge at Craft Your Passion to feature embossing.

Pink elephant ... Thinking of you

The challenge this week at pink elephant is to create either a sympathy or thinking of you card. Well although mine is not really a sympathy style thinking of you card, it does feature the chipboard sentiment topper with that sentiment on.

I matted the patterned paper with some gold, and then added the two chipboard toppers such came with a magazine a while ago.

Love the retro feel to these chipboard toppers... So cute.

Rich razzleberry one layer card

I love clean and simple cards and was quite pleased with this card I made. I used my new rich razzleberry ink and inked up my lily flower stamp. I stamped it just off the edge of the card and then found the sentiment stamp which I stamped in the same colour.

The finishing touches had to be a few pale pink rhinestones in the top corner (just because!).

This card meets the challenge at the Alphabet challenge blog to use one colour and white and also meets the flower challenges At Come and get it challenges and cupcake crafting.

Cute card ... Yummy cakes

This is a simple card I made from the card toppers I created from the card samples a friend gave me to upcycle! I'm entering it for the challenge at cute card Thursday this week where the challenge is to bling it up!

Well with added glitter and some lovely silver card candi I figure this is blingy enough!

I matted the topper with the silver paper and added the card candi then I added some additional glitter with a glue pen and the iridescent glitter.

Thank you card ... Pinterest inspired

I'm back ... Had a wonderful holiday and loved every moment of being away and seeing new places ... Such fun! I have one more week before I go back to work which I hope to fill with fun for the princess and a bit of craft for me. I celebrated being back home with a little crafting yesterday which I thought I would share for you!

I saw a card on pinterest which I thought I would have a go at. The card in question was black and white but I thought I would change it up a little and go for white black and green.

Unfortunately I can't post the actual picture or even a link as it links to a website I need to join to access which I think is for SU demos only... Sorry!

I started by stamping the main floral image from Fresh Vintage SU set in black onto the green card four times. I then chose a different part of the image to cut out a three cm square. If I had a square punch this would have been much easier and neater but back to basics of the craft knife and mat and ruler for me.

I then mounted these on white and hand cut the border. Again a punch would have been easier. Then I left them to one side to sort out the background of the card. I hand cut the card blank from the green card into a long tent fold. Then mat and layered the front to create the white border. I then stamped the sentiment straight on in black.

Then the squares I layered up in a higgeldy row down the side so that the image seems to flow. I then added the finishing touches with the pale green rhinestones on the images.

Quite pleased with this although I do think the green is rather in your face so probably a more delicate colour would be better. But still I like the effect of the squares.

I am entering this card into the following challenges...

Tuesday throw down ... Use of squares
Stamp n doodle ... Loaded with layers
Crafty sentiments ... Flowers
Friday mash up ... Thank you

Present time

This card was a bit of an experiment in creating a shape using a left over piece of paper from cutting a frame using a die. It wasn't 100% successful but it worked ok. I think my blending needs to improve but the concept worked!

I used some calypso coral ink and blended it through the die cut shape and then stamped the image of the presents. The sentiment I also stamped although now I look at it they look a little wonky! Then I brushed the flowers with the ink to tie them in and then glued them in place using the pin flair glue gel.

Finally I finished by edging the card with the same colour ink.

I am entering this in the challenge at the stamping boutique

Words but no image

This card I let the paper take the focus and just added some embellishments in terms of ribbon and some bling and the simple little sentiment.

I love the dsp of everyday enchantment... The colours are just fab and obviously the cute little ribbon in the coordinating lucky limeade is perfect!

Things with wings

Yes I am on my hols but thought I would have a bit of a blog update as its been almost a week since my last post!

The challenge at sweet stampin is to include a thing with wings so I thought I would share my v v v CAS card I made!

I took a small square card and stamped using the calypso coral a textured square and then over stamped in rich razzleberry the bird in the birdcage and the sentiment. Then I added the tiny pearl to the top of the cage.

Cute and as I said very very very clean and simple!

Also adding to challenge at less is more for one layer card featuring feathers!

I am on my hols for a whole week more but may be able to drop in with a another blog some time over the next day or so if I can get wifi?!?

Thanks for popping by!

Ps... Found a new craft shop today in Oldmeldrum called creativity boutique. Only been open a few weeks and looks lovely! Would recommend a visit to those who may be Aberdeenshire based or visiting!

Blingy blue!

Bling ... Me.. On my cards ... Always!

That's right I love adding rhinestones to add that extra something and this card was just the same. I kept it clean and simple but couldn't resist the bling!

I scored a couple of lines down the left hand side as part of it he design and then added the punched border from the Martha stewart punch. Then I stamped the cake in the corner along with the sentiment in Baja breeze. I then used the SU markers to do a bit of colouring in and then added the three blue rhinestones.

Perfect for the blue and bling challenge at just add ink.

Chocolate coffee and cards embossing challenge

This week the challenge at chocolate, coffee and cards is to include embossing so I thought I would share another baby card I made...

I took some lovely pale blue textured card and used my hoagie board to do the embossed lines. Then mounted up the little chipboard topper on a curly label punchie. Finally I stamped the boy sentiment on in the Baja breeze.

52 card pickup

An any old card type of card coming up for 52 card pickup so I thought I would share a card I made my dad.

Button it baby

Yesterday I had a bonanza time making baby cards to use up some toppers I had bought for a couple of commissioned cards and this is one of them and as the challenge at Stamp'n'doodle is to use buttons I thought this could be perfect.

I started with a piece of the cute striped paper and then added a border of the punched white paper. I then added the sentiment and the little wooden embellishment before finally adding the buttons.
Cute!

BINGO time

Another card using the beautiful everyday enchantment dsp from stampin up and a little bit of stamping for this card and following the top line from the bingo over at Tuesday Alchemy

So first I laid down some stamped strips using the stamp in the fresh vintage set which matches perfectly with one of the dsp's.
Then added a square of that paper on top so that the pattern peeps out from underneath. Then punched a curly label and some flowers and layered them up and before fixing down I added the little ribbon pieces. The centre of the flower I decided on a rhinestone for some bling and then stamped the sentiment to the side.

I really love these papers and colours.

So so pretty.

Papertake anything goes challenge

This week at paper take there is an anything goes challenge which obviously means anything goes! So I decided to share two cards I made that are very similar!

I decided to have a SU play with the simply soft stamp set I bought a while ago and have not really used a great deal. Not sure why that is but for some reason never seem to want to play with them despite the fact I love what I can create with them! Strange huh?

Anyways I went for a purple and pink theme purely because the pink paper was what came to hand when I rummaged in the paper scraps box!

I found some bright purple card in the cupboard (c&c I think) and so decided to use this as a mount to the image. I cut the whisper white panel first then stamped in the rose red and then over stamped with the filler stamp in the blushing bride pale pink. The purple card was used to mat the image and the pink to create the faux ribbons. I then added the craftwork card sentiment and then punched out the little butterfly in the pink striped paper.

The second card I chose the same image to stamp but this time went for a different colour combo.

This time I stamped the outline in the rich razzleberry and the inner in the wisteria wonder. I then did a double mount with the pink striped paper and the purple card. The faux ribbons I decided to turn over two to the other swirly pattern to add some contrast and added another butterfly. I also added the rhinestones and sentiment die cut from craftwork cards to add the bling and texture.

Love both of these and really pleased with how they came out.

Thanks for popping over to see me.

Bit of Beatrix Potter

A while ago I shared some beatrix potter cards but didn't get a chance to show this one... So in a bid to catch up I thought I would show it now ... And it gives me a chance to enter the challenge at Top Tip Tuesday this week which is a focus on ribbon.

Sometimes I want to add a particular ribbon but there isn't enough to tie a proper bow, or in this case the ribbon is a bit wide to neatly tie up. So a fake bow is the answer!

So this card is a layer up of the paper that I bought with the decoupage kit, a punched shape and then the topper layered up. I then created the fake bow and added the beautiful dragonfly embellishment. Then I added the diecut sentiment from craftwork cards.

Thanks for popping by to see the card I made ... And now it's time for me to quit crafting and to get myself to bed!

Bling and rhinestone heaven!

Tonight I got a Facebook message from a friend asking for a wedding acceptance card and as I had my crafty stash out I was more than happy to oblige!

I love using the Bliss stamp set from Stampin Up for wedding type cards and I'm particularly pleased with the way I decided to do this card. I stamped the main swirly image in crumb cake off centre and then stamped the RSVP in chocolate chip. Then on separate white card I stamped the swirly image twice in crumb cake. I then used a butterfly punch to punch out the butterflies on the pattern where it is symetrical. I fixed these to the card along their centre to give them some dimension.

I then inked the edge of the card and mounted it onto a white card blank. I then added three pale pink pearls on the main swirly image ... Really need to come up with a better description! ... And then pale pink rhinestones to the butterflies.

Inside the card I stamped the swirly image off the page and the same for the front of the envelope to continue the theme throughout.

As I said i am really pleased with how this came out.

SU patterned papers

I love the SU patterned papers and the fact the inks match in colour and so when I saw the Stampin Up only challenge to show of the designer series papers I knew immediately that I wanted to show you this card I made with the Everyday enchantment papers and the matching fresh vintage stamp set.

I used my SU markers to colour the stamp using the Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral colours and then used two of the DSP's to create the mount and the three pennants. I then used the punch to create the flower and added the rhinestone as the centre.

I love these papers and wish I had bought more but never mind... Love the fact I have a few more cards still to share with you and one full sheet of paper left to play with!

Birthday greetings

Delightful sketches have a birthday card challenge this week and here is my entry

I took a card topper I'd made from another card and mounted it onto some striped patterned paper. Then I added some gems to the topper to bling it up some!

Enjoy!

Stampin royalty ... Some turquoise

There is a picture inspiration challenge at Stampin Royalty which is perfect for the card I've made for the box of sparkle today.

The picture is a beautiful turquoise bangle.

I was asked to make some baby boy cards for some work colleagues and with the left over little embellishments I made some more for the boxes of sparkle and this is one of those. I took inspiration with the colour and the beads to do the dry embossing polka dots.

Another adult card

Once again I am sharing a card which makes the most of the everyday enchantment papers left over from the toilet roll mini book class and makes another card suitable for an adult ... As per the challenge at Come and Get it Challenges

I layered up the two beautiful patterned papers and added the punched label with the sentiment stamped, some coordinating ribbon and a little punched flower with a coordinating gem in the centre. This is offset as a topper to the bottom right, leaving plenty of white in true clean and simple style but with the fussy detail in the topper!

I love this card and these papers have been fab to play with!

Adult birthday ... Any birthday?

The challenge this week at come and get it challenges is to create an adult card. As most of the cards I make are suitable for adults it was more a case of which to share! As you are allowed two entries I will probably be back shortly with another one!

This card makes the most of some beautiful papers which were left over from the toilet roll mini book making class

It is a simple case of layering up the papers and a strip of the card in the middle, adding a wrap of ribbon with a bow and a sentiment stamped on the punched out word window piece of card in coordinating coloured ink... Simple!

Nature with bling

I am a fan of bling on cards ... Can't beat a few rhinestones in my opinion to finish a card off!

So when I see the challenge being bling with a bit of nature over at Our creative corner this week I knew I wanted to join in.

I chose this decoupage image with the bunny tending to the flowers as my bit of nature and added the pale green rhinestone corners and the bright gold die cut sentiment as a bit of extra Bling! In fact even the organza ribbon has some sparkle to it!

Present time

I love the fact that my friend gave me a massive pile of card samples to use and make into something new ... It means there is a pile of go to toppers etc to do some quick makes and even though it may seem like just cutting and sticking it really does he me relax to make a couple of easy cards!

This is one of those cards!

A card front cut down into a topper, matted on a couple of different coloured papers, some bling added and job done!

Boys and their toys

WARNING!!! This is a cute card alert!

Yes another decoupage cutsey card this time for a little boy ... And meets the challenge at Here come the boys

I chose pale green gingham and lemon and pale green colours to coordinate with the decoupaged image and then the little die cut sentiment and the gems to finish. Really pleased with this one as it is simple but I think very effective.

Photo inspiration

Stamptacular Sunday have a stunning picture as a photo inspiration this week so I thought I would play along as I knew immediately which stamp set would come out to play!

Any guesses??? Oh yes Forever Young is back out!

Ok so my colour scheme was completely different but I immediately had to use the forever young tree and decided to use the gold die cut sentiment from craftwork cards to represent the sun!

I used som patterned papers from a set I got in a magazine and cut the three pennant type strips and then die cut with the top note die before stamping the tree in Baja Breeze so it is a faint image... Almost watermarked.

The finishing touches we're the pink pearls and of course the die cut sentiment!

Anything goes ... Cute tweetie birds

I spotted these little bird stamps in a freebie set from a magazine and decided I wanted to try something a little different with them.

Firstly I masked off the central stripe on the card with making tape then I stamped the birds using some grey ink. I then stamped them again on post it notes and cut them out and covered over the stamped image on the card. Then I used my brayer to add the blue and green to the card. I didn't use an extra mask and just created a softer hill effect by not brayering straight! Then I uncovered the birds and coloured them with my promarker in a pale lemon colour. I then removed the masking tape mask. Then I stamped the ticket sentiment in black underneath the panel.

Really pleased with how this came out... Love it when I try something different and have this kind of a play!

A girly creation

One of my dear friends ... No I fact she is one of my sisters now... Celebrated her birthday at the end of last week and so I am sharing the card I made for her as part of the girly creation challenge over at Incy Wincy designs.

I chose a dark burnt orange as the main colour scheme with the peaches, yellows and greens mainly as I wanted to use the black magic coredinations card and an embossing folder. I stamped the image and die cut it with a frame and then used my promarkers to colour. Then I added the punched sentiment and some gems and a ribbon to finish off.

Ribbon time

I decided to do a selection of cutesy cards from a decoupage kit and this is one of the ones I made using spring type colours and some lovely ribbons I got with my last Stampin Up order as the colours worked perfectly with the images and papers.

This card is being entered over at Pink Elephant where the challenge this week is to use ribbon.

Firstly I decoupaged the topper using pinflair glue gel to give a softer layered image. Then I covered the card blank with the patterned paper leaving a small border. I wrapped the two ribbons around the layer of paper and tied them in a bow so that the ribbons crossed over. I then used a little square of the white to mount the decoupage topper on and added the craftwork cards sentiment die cut to finish off.

Sorry the picture isn't brilliantly clear but hope you like it.

Thanks for popping by to see what I've created.

Happy crafting.

Sporting theme ... Golf simplicity

This is another up cycled card made from the card samples given to me by a friend rather than them being chucked out. I took a simple approach to this turning the front of the card into a card topper by trimming it down. I layered a piece of shiny black card underneath to add some texture and then added the topper ... Simple but does the job for a quick men's golfing card.

Entered into the challenge for this weeks CraftyCardmakers which is a sporting theme. This card is going into the box of sparkle for my cousin to have at work so hope someone likes it.
